A Big Bite
We received letters from our friends in Mexico this week. It is so exciting to get packages in the mail!! Students are in the process of writing letters to send to Mexico.
We have started a unit on plant structures and animal adaptations in science. This experiment involved different insect mouths and food sources. It was a highlight of the week for many students.
Sometimes a new haircut is just what you want!! I have his permission to post these two photos, Before and After. Either way, we all love this guy's flow. :)
In math we are working on addition and subtraction of fractions, mixed numbers and improper fractions. These are new skills for students and everyone is working hard to master these concepts. In reading we have been reading and researching dog breeds and will be writing persuasive essays about the best dog for our families. Next week, we will finish the dog unit with Dog Day on Thursday (a note went home today) and start a new interactive read aloud. In poetry workshop we are reading the book, Gone Fishing by Tamera Will Wissinger and will be writing poems based on childhood memories. In project based learning, students have begun researching national parks and will continue this work for several weeks.
Have a great weekend!
