A Big Bite

We had a great second week!  the students continue to master the technology and make progress with the curriculum. We anticipate having a test on place value skills on Friday.  Students have been building stamina in reader's workshop and are getting ready to start creating journal entries. We have been reading many picture books in reader's workshop and using them to develop reading comprehension skills.   The students are using on line maps to complete geopgraphy questions.  We have been developing hopes and dreams for 4th grade and should publish our work by the end of the week.  Our morning meetings and end of the day meetings have benn a great way to build community in our classroom.  We continue to embrace our class motto, "We hold each other up."  We are off to a great start!

Our first "Dancer of the Day," in Room 23 for the 2020-2021 school year!  #letsboogie #ThisKidCanDance

Here is the book, "Whack-A-Mole; Room 23 Style,"  told in slides.  Enjoy!

A Big Bite

Welcome back to school; the new year is here and we are excited to get 4th grade rolling.  We are learning in a remote environment but that doesn't stop us!  We have done a great job of getting to know each other and building our classroom community.  Here is the constitution that we decided upon after celebrating Constitution Day and reading books like "I Promise," by LeBron James and "You Hold Me Up," by Monique Grey Smith.

We Hold Each Other Up When...

... we work hard and never give up.

...we encourage each other to do their best.

... we follow guidelines for behavior, online, and in person.

... we work cooperatively together.

... we stay focused, when we listen, and when we have self control.

... we are patient with ourselves and others.

... we treat each other with respect and kindness.

...we look out for each other.

... we take risks with our learning and when we learn from our mistakes.

... WE HAVE FUN!

We also spent a good deal of time creating and building. Here are some pictures of workstations, inspired creations and paper chains.

What a wonderful group of young people!  I am so excited for this year!
Have a great weekend!
