A Big Bite

Blog Post 1,000!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!
We had a great last week before vacation.  In math, we focused on geometry skills.  We built quadrilaterals with straws and twist ties and then created HUGE polygon pals on butcher paper.  Currently, we are writing limericks about the polygon pals.  The students are very engaged in this learning.  The Houston Zoo Ape cam has been a great one to watch this week.  We have been able to observe the silver back in his habitat, along with a female ape and some river hogs.  It is fascinating!  We are two thirds of the way through The One and Only Ivan, by Katherine Applegate and should finish after vacation.  Our focus for this book has been noticing how characters change over time and discovering the themes with supporting evidence.  The Midwest test was a success and we will travel to the West region next.  Fourth graders participate in many engaging activities during the last eight weeks of school, please look for a notice with important dates in your child's go home folder today.  I will post the notice to the blog as well.
Ask your child about the pictures below, there is so  much to tell!
Have a great weekend!
