A Big Bite!

Time is flying by and 4th graders continue to work hard and learn many new skills every day.  This week we have focused on geometry in math and we worked with transparent mirrors while studying symmetry.  We are going to create a poem based on one of our "mirror image," drawings.  We were fortunate to have Elizabeth "Ms. Liz," Gordon McKim, Poet Laureate, join us for a week of poetry workshops.  Check out our video on Twitter/Periscope as we begin our work with Ms. Liz.  Thanks to the PCC for supporting this enrichment program every year for JFK fourth graders.  Parents will have the opportunity to meet Ms. Liz at the Poetry Coffeehouse in June so save the date!  In reading, we completed the novel Love That Dog and are half way done with the sequel, Hate That Cat, both by Sharon Creech.  We will finish reading next week.  Ivan Day will take place this Monday so don't forget your jungle snacks and stuffies for your desk. 😃 Another highlight from this week was a virtual visit to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.  This visit was different from the visit the students participated in as third graders.  There is so much to learn about the National Parks! Check out our video on Twitter/Periscope to see some of the visit.

Thank you so much for all of the wonderful gifts during Teacher Appreciation Week; you are too kind! #lovemyclass.
Have a great weekend, stay dry!
