Our week started off with Student Council Speeches and election and voting in a mock election for President of the United States. All of the speeches were fantastic and it was a difficult decision for all! Congratulations to Jack who will be representing Room 23 on the JFK Student Council this year!
Voting for President of the United States
Mr. Whitmore came to JFK to discuss his trip to Antarctica and to share his expertise on penguins and other Antarctic animals. It was insightful and fun! How did you do on the quiz? We did pretty well. Thanks, Mr. Whitmore!
Thursday was Black and White Day as we celebrated the book,
Mr. Popper's Penguins. Below is a schedule of our day, which we had to tweak until the power came back on around 9:30. It was a great day with many wonderful learning experiences. Ask your child to tell you all about it!

It was a short but busy week. We are able to do so much in 4th grade and our days are always full. The success of Black and White day confirms for me that we are building community every day and appreciate our differences and diversity.
We will start multiplication next week, in addition to non fiction reading in Reader's Workshop. We will learn about precipitation in Science and start a fun writing project in Writer's Workshop.
We remember and thank our nation's Veteran's today for all they have done to secure our freedom and liberty. THANK YOU!!!
Have a great, long weekend!
