Juicy Nibble
It was a great week back from vacation; we sure did a lot of work! We started new units and continued working on older units. We celebrated World Read Aloud Day with Mrs. Wilmarth's class. Click here to view the slide show that we created together. It was a great day of reading and art. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think. Read Across America Day is this Wednesday and students are encouraged to dress up like a character from a book that they enjoy. Hats and costumes are permitted. :)
Have a great weekend!

Bookworm Buzz
This will be my last Bookworm Buzz post for the week; it is time for me to read a book for ME! I am currently reading Master Thieves, by Stephen Kurkjian. It is a non fiction book that looks closely at the theft at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. He will be speaking about his book at my library next weekend. I am excited to meet him and hear what he has to say about his book, the writing process and what is in future when it comes to his next book.
If you would like to read about the most infamous art heist in our country which occured at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in 1990, I have a great non fiction short story to share with you and some primary sources as well, just let me know. I am happy to share it with you. :)
In the meantime, here are three more books for you to check out at the library!
Enjoy the rest of your vacation.

Frankencrayon by Michael Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Just for fun!!! We all know what happens to a book when it gets scribbled on and what happens when someone tries to fix it. A great companion to Red, by Michael Hall. I really liked this book, great lesson for little ones.

The Hero Two Doors Down: Based on the True Story of Friendship Between a Boy and a Baseball Legend by Sharon Robinson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I love baseball books AND Sharon Robinson books and this true story did not disappoint. Check this one out from the library!
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I did like this book. Jon Klassen's illustrations are wonderful! There are many questions that middle grade readers will have and some heavy topics to be considered; war, death of a parent, PTSD, running away, neglectful parenting, and loss of a pet, to name a few. I have reservations about sharing this book with readers younger than 12, even strong readers, as the themes are intense. I would recommend that a parent co-read this book with their child, regardless of age, in order to address the questions that will inevitably arise.

A Big Bite
The sled races were great and everyone had fun while practicing engineering skills! Students who complete the final STEM challenge at home can email pictures and I will post them. We will try to find time at school to test them when we return from vacation. Enjoy the week and stay warm!
