The Truth of MeThe Truth of Me by Patricia MacLachlan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This will be a great book for small groups, particularly animal lovers.  There is so much to discuss about theme, characters changing, character motivation and feelings that I anticipate learning something new with each reader who chooses to read this book.  Parents should give this quick read a try as well, there is plenty here for us to discuss as well.

The Day the Crayons QuitThe Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVE THIS BOOK!! It can be used in reader's workshop, writer's workshop, in Art with Mrs. Hess, as a read aloud to younger students and just for sheer enjoyment.  I loved how each crayon wrote to Duncan about their feelings, what a great way to show point of view!  Read it, I guarantee you will love it too!

An oldie but a goodie.  This will be great for Social Studies lessons about John Muir and Yosemite National Park.  I think I see a yoga set in here too!

I read this book with Luke and really enjoyed it.  We have the next two and plan on reading the series.  This is just right for my upper middle school friends and beyond.
