Juicy Nibble

Okay gang-time to start flexing those mind muscles-especially those math muscles! Complete the following math problems, show all of your work, and turn it in to receive a blue ticket. Former students may participate as well!  Have fun, and YES, you can have help, but not the electronic kind. :)

A. As of 8/30/12, Mrs. W had run and walked  698.5 miles so far this year.  Today she ran 6 miles.  How many total miles has Mrs. W put on the road so far this year?
B. Mrs. W likes to put 1,000 miles on the road each year.  How many more miles does she have to go?
C.  If Mrs. W has walked 38.8 miles this year, how many has she run?  How many more miles does she need to run to get to 1,000 miles?
D. On average, how many miles per month does Mrs. W need to run/walk to get to 1,000 miles by the end of the year?
E.  Can you write the number 1,000, in 4 different ways? (Hint: This is like Name Collection Boxes)

Challenge:  On average, Mrs. W can run one mile in 8 minutes and 45 seconds (faster if she is racing).  How many minutes has she run this year?  How many hours?  How many days?   How many seconds?  You MAY use a calculator for this problem. :)
