A Big Bite

It was another great week in room 23! 4th grade is in full swing. This week we learned many new things. In math we learned more about geometry and use a compass for the first time! In science we learned about the scientific method and in social studies we made puzzle maps of the world. We also were able to listen to the President's speech on Tuesday with the other fourth and fifth graders. In writing we wrote ten goals for the school year. Reader's workshop is fun and more people are starting to like reading more. We have been doing DRAs and increasing our independent reading time. We read for 42 minutes on Friday. As a class, we have read 33 books so far this year-that's a lot of books for only the second week of the school year! Hamlet is getting very interesting, we can't wait to see what the Prince will do next. Today, Mrs. W read September 12th, We Knew Everything Would Be Alright. It was written by a first grade class and told the story of how the kids knew that the country would survive after the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. It was a really good book and written well, especially for first graders. Next week we will have Constitution Day and the Reading Show! It will be our first full week of school and we are excited!
Have a great weekend!
