A Big Bite
A two hour delay on Friday is how we have ended a short week. This has been a very engaging week in Room 23. A teacher from Franklin High School spoke to the fourth graders about the famous artist, Frida Kahlo. It was awesome! We have started a new interactive read aloud, Little Dog, Lost by Marion Dane Bauer and the students are enjoying it very much. We are focusing on point of view and author's craft. These skills will help us as we write stories throughout the year. In word study, we are focusing on nouns, common and proper. In science, we are focusing on earthquakes, volcanoes and erosion. We have completed experiments about weathering and lava and will continue to work on these concepts after the Thanksgiving holiday. Next week is a short week and students will take a unit test on multiplication and will give their first speech of the year. I also have some fun curriculum based activities planned for the week. Have a great weekend!
