A Big Bite

Winter Fest 2012 was exciting here in room 23. We worked on Geo snowflakes and will be writing poems about them next week. As a grade, we watched Snow Buddies, and were making comparisons to Stone Fox. At least this one didn't have such a tragic ending. In reader's workshop, we are continuing to read Snow Treasure, by Marie McSwigan, and have started to prepare for the upcoming ELA MCAS. We have been working on fractions and probability in math. We have been using pattern blocks to add and subtract fractions. In writer's workshop, we finished an essay on a special moment with a teacher. In social studies, we have been learning a lot about the Northeast! We live in a great region of the country! In science, we have wrapped up our study of the water cycle, humidity and precipitation. There will be a test next week on these skills, and a study guide went home on Thursday night. Many students showed their support for the Patriots by wearing Patriots gear as part of the Winterfest celebration. Mrs. Cordova and Mrs. Lacerda are helping me to cheer the Giants on to victory. Thanks to all of my family in NY who helped me represent Big Blue right here in Patriot Nation!
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Williams
