My Life as a CartoonistMy Life as a Cartoonist by Janet Tashjian
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed the latest installment in the "My Life as a..." series.  It has been fun watching this character grow and change over time.  The addition of a character who is a bully is timely for readers, especially those dealing with bullying issues.  I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I also reviewed two other books on Goodreads for my High School and Middle School friends.  Check them out in my Goodreads feed!

The Truth of MeThe Truth of Me by Patricia MacLachlan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This will be a great book for small groups, particularly animal lovers.  There is so much to discuss about theme, characters changing, character motivation and feelings that I anticipate learning something new with each reader who chooses to read this book.  Parents should give this quick read a try as well, there is plenty here for us to discuss as well.

The Day the Crayons QuitThe Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVE THIS BOOK!! It can be used in reader's workshop, writer's workshop, in Art with Mrs. Hess, as a read aloud to younger students and just for sheer enjoyment.  I loved how each crayon wrote to Duncan about their feelings, what a great way to show point of view!  Read it, I guarantee you will love it too!

An oldie but a goodie.  This will be great for Social Studies lessons about John Muir and Yosemite National Park.  I think I see a yoga set in here too!

Juicy Nibble

Hi Gang!  I hope you are enjoying your vacation so far.  It has been hot and so muggy.  I'm getting ready to head north to Canada.  I'm so excited to see some of the places that we learned about this year.  I will be tweeting, so make sure you keep up with the twitter feed on the right.  I'm hoping to strike a yoga pose or two in some of the places I visit.  Which pose would be best? Give me your best suggestion in a comment.  If you forget how to comment, just follow the directions in the gadget on the right.  I also hope to get in a run while I am up there.  I have been reading a great non fiction book all about Quebec and Montreal.  What have you been reading so far?  Let me know.  Happy 4th of July, stay cool!
