It has been another awesome week in 4th grade!  We continue to make progress  in math on fractions and the students are working hard. We are almost done with Mighty Jack, by Ben Hatke. We are using the strategies from the Into Reading program when we read novels together to synthesize our learning. In writer’s workshop the students are working on paragraphs about how they got their name and will be creating a slideshow to showcase their work.  We continue to learn about animal adaptations in science and we built terrariums on Thursday.  We are looking forward to observing the terrariums grow and flourish throughout the school year.

On Wednesday, Peter and Andrew, former FPS students and JFK resident engineers came to speak with 4th graders about the engineering process.  We appreciate Peter and Andrew for volunteering their time to help us learn about engineering and for their guidance as the students designed their “puff mobile.”  Ask your student all about it!

It has been a great first week!  We are having a great time getting to know each other, build community and learn all about 4th grade.  Can you identify your student by their footwear?  Let me know!

SENIORS!!!!

Tonight, seniors at Franklin High School will graduate and begin the next step on this journey of life.  I am so proud of my former 4th graders!  They have made an impact on the world already and will continue to do great things!  This was a wonderful group of students and they will make the world a better place.  I have fond memories of them and I am thankful to all who have taken time to come and visit me and to complete ONE MORE ASSIGNMENT. 😉  Good luck in all your future endeavors, I can't wait to see how you make your mark!

Love,

Mrs. Williams
