A Big Bite

We have had a great first week and everyone seems excited and ready for 4th grade! We spent a good deal of our time building our classroom community and learning the ropes. We developed a classroom constitution with 3 principles that we are striving for; to be kind, to be supportive and helpful, and to do our best. We all signed our names just like it was The Declaration of Independence! We also talked about how maintaining a positive attitude and never giving up is key to success. We retired the words "I can't." and celebrated with a watermelon party. Yum!
We began working on academics and will really begin units next week. We also spent time meeting Mrs. Merten and the other Mrs. Williams and learned all about Creative Arts Friday. Ask you r child to tell you about this fun part of our week.
We ended our week with a community meeting in which we created a class spider web with string. We talked about our "high, low and betcha' didn't know," facts from the first week of school. Many high points were meeting classmates and there were several low points due to injuries, myself included! The betcha' didn't knows sounded like many fun weekend trips to end the summer.
Here is a link to the first student survey of the year. Please complete this survey by Monday at 12:00 p.m. Thanks!
Have a great weekend and see you on Tuesday!

A great first day of school for the students in room 23!!! Smiles in and smiles out, who could ask for more?
So many great outfits today. But the shoes and sneakers!!!! All new or nearly new footwear. Parents, can you find your child's shoe? Leave a comment using specific details if you can identify your child's footwear. Be careful, look closely, there are a few, "tricks in these pics!"

Juicy Nibble
Class placement letters have been mailed and should be arriving to your home soon. Perhaps you have already received yours and you know that you have me, Mrs. Ann Williams, as your 4th grade teacher. There are two teachers named Mrs. Williams teaching 4th grade this year. I am the shorter one with curly, brown hair. Mrs. Erin Williams is MUCH taller than me and has straight, blond hair. This is a picture of us taken last year so that you can see who is who. We called this picture, "Dress like a Williams," Day. :)
I have posted a letter for you and one for your family in the Important Documents gadget on the right. Just click on those documents to learn more about 4th grade and what the year will be like. Also, take some time to scroll through my blog posts and see what has been going on this summer. Feel free to leave a comment on the blog, the directions are on the right, just make sure that you check with your parents first. Enjoy the rest of the summer and I will see you soon! I can't wait!
